Miriam Kennet, 47 is a local Parish councillor and has been activist on social justice and the environment for 25 years.

She is Director of the Green Economics Institute and has published many articles and books on economics and environmental issues. She runs regular Green Economics Conferences in Reading at the Reading International Solidarity Centre, in Oxford and in London. She lectures at Birkbeck College, London University in Environmental Economics and is a member of Mansfield College Oxford University.
She is currently the Green Co-ordinator for West Berkshire and was for many years the co-ordinator of Reading Green Party and has been the National Campaigns co-ordinator for the Greens.
She has stood in elections for Reading and West Berksshire and Oxfordshire and is committed to continuing the excellent work of our current Green MEPs in the European Parliament.
Having studied Economics and Economics HIstory, she has a Masters in International Business and an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from Oxford Universitys prestigious Environmental Change Institute.Miriam is active in health and also nuclear issues locally, and was on the Green Party National Executive for six years - most recently as their campaign manager, running campaigns on GM and food safety, transport improvements, quality of life issues and homelessness and climate change. She promoted the Road Traffic Reduction Act in Parliament was an example of her belief in using democracy to get real change in our daily lives. She is very active in women's issues and is proud that the Greens in Europe have an excellent record on campaigning for women's to be dealt with effectively and also for minority rights.
Most recently Harvard Economics Review have published her ideas and she has just appeared on the BBCs Wake up to Money on Budget Day as well as working with the womens budget group at the Child Poverty Action Group.The Rosa Luxemburg Foundation in Germany has just published her paper. The French Greens have invited her to launch their campaign and she recently spoke in the Austrian Parliament
