Reading Euro election launch

Reading Greens are launching their campaign to re-elect Caroline Lucas and other Greens to the European Parliament.
Reading Greens are inviting the public to come to their Big Green Bus -- which runs on recycled vegetable oil -- to find out how Caroline Lucas, the region's Green Euro MP for the past decade, has delivered significant achievements and how, if re-elected on June 4th, she will continue to put social and environmental justice at the top of the EU's agenda.
Caroline has worked hard for the Reading area: opposing floodplain development at Kennet Valley Park; campaigning against expansion of AWE and the spread of nuclear weapons; and working to stop a third runway at Heathrow which would worsen the quality of the air we breathe and increase both congestion and climate changing emissions.
Caroline Lucas, Leader of the Green Party and the Euro MP said: “None of the other parties has the vision or the courage to tackle the real challenges we face today – the accelerating climate crisis, the end of the age of cheap plentiful oil, an unstable economy teetering on the edge of total collapse, and Victorian levels of inequality running through it all. Britain and Europe need Green leadership now.”
Green campaigner Rob white -- who missed out on becoming Reading's first Green councillor by just 20 votes at the last local elections -- said: "I've been on the doorstep for Caroline for the last few weeks. With all of the abuse of MPs expenses, support for the three main parties has fallen off a cliff. With the Green Party's core values of fairness, integrity and the environment combined with Caroline's hard work as a Euro MP and her winning an Observer Ethical Award, large numbers of people have been telling me that they are considering voting Green."
